I have owned this lovely woodblock for decades I bought it in an expensive second hand shop for $17 ... Reduced from $22 !
It is by Suzuki Harunabu and dates from arround 1760's - 80's
It shows a delightful domestic scene of wash day .
I would love to know what the writing in the cloud says.
Sorry for poor photos it is still in it's somewhat dirty frame .

This delightful ozmarty!...:-)
Beautiful print, Marty,
wash day is a beautiful thing to celebrate
when you have it re-framed make sure they use archival board for the mat and backing,
it'll protect the paper from staining and keep the color clear.
Thanks for posting such a beautiful image.
Nice piece! I have a few Wood Block posters myself. Wood Block Printing is the earliest form of printing, originating in China; VERY time consuming process but resulting in stunning artwork!
Thank you inky Budek Bellin and Zguy2112 ...
It was because of the woodblock prints entering the west as wrapping papper that we had the Art Nouveau movement and all the subsequent styles that followed on from it. They showed the West a different way of looking at things .
We have too moore pieces they are still packed away from a move 5 years ago.
this one lives right at just behind me when I am at my desk.
ozmarty, love this!!!
