With everybody showing peddle cars & old cars, here was my fun car. Didn't have a top and with those tiny wheels on island roads, there was only one name to give it. I am still called "Shake n Bake" here. This is a Mini Moke & I've had 6-7 of them. Nothing you can't fix on the road with a screwdriver & a metric crescent wrench.
Year? That would depend on which part you are looking at. Not really a push car but was pushed a lot.
Great ride, love it.
Ganja cake BELL.
Nice pic, not sure that I would want to shake or bake!
Hey, walksoftly, these were fun things! You just had to make sure you kept your mouth closed when driving on our roads. These were the Eng. jeeps. Tourists loved to have their pics taken with it. Problem with the Eng. is, they make engines for vehicles they want to sell in the tropics but refuse to design an eng. cooling system for the tropics so we have to change things & compensate like larger radiators & 12 blade rad. fans. The Eng. are stubborn or stupid with designs.
Still a really fun "car" if you don't get stuck in traffic!
Looks like that bumper got used for pushing traffic out of the way!
Good guess, but as I remember, it was from "S&B" being pushed out of the way.LOL Driving on this rock is lots of aggression interrupted by moments of courtesy. Actually it was like that when I "inherited" it & there were too many issues more important. I admit, I miss it.
You are never an afterthought! I just save the best for last...hope you are doing well.
Time is up. I was curious if anybody would catch the "metric crescent wrench", as if there is a difference. For the uninformed, Crescent is a brand that has become generic for an adjustable wrench. Key word being "adjustable", so fits all.
I caught it, I didn't comment as they are so common here since the introduction (forced) in the mid seventies.
Above comment should have had read
introduction of the metric system (forced) in the mid seventies
When I had my club in Jamaica & tourists started acting real strange on drugs, we would say, " They're going metric".
A friend of mine broke my back-up Moke in two. Where have you been, shopping for a tely & a v-ass?
Yeah, just boxes that rust from the inside out.
Hello! ""little"" boy!...lol...:-)
Ps. my wheels are bigger than your wheels!...;-)
Would you like a lolly-pop & a ride home from school little girl?
Careful b bus, inky will run you over with her big truck!
Maybe I can put my truck on steroids.
As long as you stay on the Island your safe from her "big wheels"!
hmmm.. that reminds me of a song
walksoftly, I was born at night, but it wasn't last night. Hey, she's really nice looking, - & I used to be.
Yes, use to be, I think you need to upgrade to a nicer set of wheels! :-)
Where abouts in Jamaica?
I owned a club in Negril, Westmoreland & after I sold it I lived in a number of places around the island while smuggling my money out. Montego Bay would probably be the only place you would know as I usually lived in small communities.
In case you know Jamaica, I lived for a long time down the "road" from New Hope & Old Hope in what we called "No Hope" but locally as Little bay.
I lived in Kingston when Iwas young for a threes or so years, many years ago!...:-)
Oou! Talk about the crotch of the planet. When I had to stay overnite in that area, I went straight to Port Royal where I knew people & the history helped also.
Do you remember the drive-in movie where you turn to go to Port Royal that they closed because people in cars would shoot at characters in the movie that were on the screen? Cops probably.
In Port Royal, a gunman had to escape via 7 miles down the palisades or take the ferry, so it was fairly safe.
Did you ever see that old steam locomotive in the train station that was used for the military airfield during the war or the old airfield with the bomb bunkers etc.?
Don't get me started on stories of life in Jamaica.
Sorry!.. haven't got back sooner but have had overseas visitors her and only done fleeting visits. I only have really!! good memories of Jamaica as was probably to young to see all the nasty stuff... guineps hot corn on the cob bought from the side of the road, Dunns River falls, Montego Beaches ect...:-)
Oh, Jamaica is a beautiful country, if they could just get rid of all those Jamaicans!LOL . Love some of the area names like, "Me no sen yu no com", "District of look behind", Rat trap, Bloody Ground etc.
Looks like a fun, "big guys go-cart". And sounds like you could tell alot of great stories from your Jamaican days. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks everybody for the interest & rap. Thinking of a Jamaica vacation? My advice is: don't go, - just send you money.
Beautiful! much cuter than the 59 Willys I had!

I guess 1 benefit of snow is, no black flies. Only had a few take a chunk out of me decades ago, but that's something you don't forget ! Roy, I'm staying off the roads because of all those amateur drunk drivers, but that certainly didn't mean I wanted to watch an old 26 min. flick !!
lol them old flick are right up your alley...I here tell your making noise on that Island ...smiling shooting that old leg iron ....
The "dawg" didn't seem bothered by the 1st 2 shots of 1 on the blunderbusses & wagging it's tail when it was inside with doors closed. Both of them sound like a cannon. OK! I let the dog out on the gallery for a "round" from a blunderbuss. Saw a dark streak to the right & a few mins. later, a dark streak to the left! Took about 10 mins. to get the dawg back!! LOL!!
The darn Dawg is most likely deaffffff...lmao...you going partying tonight. Frisco, please honour my request & "not get this thing going". That was a Cold War political battle field that took many young lives & internally divided more than 1 country ! This is not fb & remember that, since it is my poste, I hold the magic wand! It's called "delete comment". Comprende ?
BUT, ON THE OTHER HAND, YOU HAVE NO PROBLEM. REFFERING TO OUR PAST PRESIDENT BUSH AS A "HITLER", AND SPARE NO EXPENSE ON REFFERING TO THE USA, AS A HELL HOLE?111111111111111111 kEEP YOUR POLITICAL VIEWS TO YOURSELF, AND I WILL SO THE SAME! AGREED?
Well said frisco, and Get yourself some help blunserbuss2!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Frisco, don't put words in my mouth. I never referred to the U.S. as a "hell hole". You are lying now ! Short of the truth ?
Yeah, I'm the liar, and you are the saint Lucas!!!!!! PS Read yours an jacky's facebook pages !!!!! Listen, I will be quitting CW soon, so don;t loose sleep as i will be gone soon!
I dropped that spyware, fb, a yr. ago. With such talent for taking things out of context, do you work for the press ?
I won't delete these last comments for a few days so that other members can see that I'm not the only dysfunctional person around if they happen to drift thru. LOL!!
Nicefice, I found decades ago, that you can see a lot more from the outside looking in than from the inside looking out . Problem is: Most people seem to be on the inside !
Sweet ride:)
Heya...Howya...doin' ?

Don't you miss it ....'-(
Yeah Roy, I do miss it. I've seen several restored ones & tried to buy one that was supposed to go to St. Barths, but it got submerged in Irma. Sure the eng. is a loss, but the body had been galvanized & looks fine. Fun cars !
flash back for you ..would be just right for your spot..lol

GI, I ck'd on these several months ago. There is a dealer in Puerto Rico & am seeing a few of the new ones here. If memory serves me right, they're about $35K & the elec. model only has a range of about 25 miles ! (It's 38 miles around the Island !). Cars are a problem in the hurricane belt. The fine salt mist during one of Mother Nature's BJ's permeates elec. systems & you can figure 1-2 yrs. before expensive problems. Cars are rusting out after 4-5 yrs. & during tourist season, with only 2 lane rds., 4 wheels are just not a good way to get around. (even out of season!). I found after Irma, that a bike is the best way to handle forced retirement. My little Honda 250 Rebel serves me well & I've ordered a new Baja 180cc as a back-up. Easier to store them in case of a cat. 5 hurricane & if both are lost, I'm only out less than $10K. Just have to access where you live realistically. At least we don't have snow !! LOL !
I knew you were from the McDo family!!! LOL
