I'm trying to determine how old this is & what style is this considered.
    2. cogito cogito, 12 years ago
Given the style, I would posit 1920-1940.
    3. mschoenfeld, 12 years ago
would you consider this Art Nouveau?
    4. cogito cogito, 12 years ago
No. Not Art Nouveau. It's actually a mixture of styles with Jacobean legs, Art Deco curved lines, and Rococo ornamentation. It's fairly typical of what you would see in furniture circa late 1930s to early 1940s. It's a pretty and unusual form.

Thank you for the description & information. I don't know anything about antiques, this is the first piece I've purchased.

No problem. You have a good eye. If you are interested in antiques collecting, my biggest recommendation would be to invest time and expense first in reference books, after which you will be armed with the information you need to make that next purchase (or potential find). Best of luck!
