i picked this up at the alameda point flea market yesterday. it had a lot of paint splattered on it and it had stains which i didn't think i could get out, but i did. it appears to be made out of some high fire, white clay and it has a good ring to it. it looks like it was made in a two-part mold as there are very slight traces of a seam. i'm going to call it my 'sun pot' because of the great yellow color. the ruler is a twelve inch to show size. it's very well-made and in perfect condition, now that i've removed the stains w/ some elbow grease. i think it's a really beautiful piece.
any ideas?
thanks mustangtony. this piece is very large. i just measured it's capacity and it holds 5 gallons - filled to the brim. it is a very beautiful piece and i really hope i can find some info about who made it and when.
i wish i could capture this better. it's my favorite new piece of pottery - enormous in my little house though. the matte yellow glaze is beautiful!
