    I just got this one, and I am thrilled to own a Loetz Phanomen genre that is not listed on Loetz.com. I do not own the expensive Loetz book, so I can not verify that this pattern is what Quittenbaum lists as genre 2/483. In fact I have seen 5 other examples; all sold by Quittenbaum, and all listed as PG 2/483. Well? Loetz-hounds? Are they correct?

    As for the details, it is a massive 13-1/2" (34.3 cm) high, and the base glass is a wonderful pink. The "cattail" decorations are accompanied by small streaks of gold. The signature is very good. The signature means c1900.

    Enjoy! :)

    So, after further input (thanks everyone) I must conclude that at this moment; this is listed as an unidentified Phanomen genre. That's the Loetz paradox; listed as unidentified. Regardless; it is a stunner!

      Yes; it was online.

      If you look at the Musterschnitte of PN 2/483 the linedrawing of the decor looks differently, there seems to be no feathers but a type of loops. A final conclusion may be drawn, if you find a shape and decor matching vase of PN 2/483. Quittenbaum does not always assign correctly.

      I was an underbidder..its really beautiful...your lucky Dougs listing pics weren't the best :-). Congrats.

      Thanks Mr. T. We know how to look beyond the quality of the listing photos, but it still made a good price! The good ones sell no matter what the pics look like, but good listing photos and lots of them are always helpful - and always a photo of the bottom, especially if it is signed.

      And thank you kairomalte for the information about 2/483. I do suspect that the attributions of Quittenbaum are questionable at times (like this). I have not seen this shape before either, so it is a definite marker/clue. Thanks again. :)

      this genre is shown in PMC band 4 IV.78 pg57

      unidentified Genre. 1902 1903

      almost all of the shapes are missing in the pattern book for 1902 and 1903

      Thanks Greatsnowyowl; that's just what I was waiting to hear. The seller also said it was an unidentified genre, so they must have gotten it from PMC. Good to know.

      And thanks to everyone for the love; I'm overwhelmed. :)

      Fascinating. I find the dots in the feathering at the base curious and then it has those Rindskopf-like feathers at the top. The unusual base color is the kicker. Great acquisition, Dan!

      Thanks Jeff; the base color is unusual. All the others I found had the same pulled-feather at the base and the cattail feathers near the top, but this is the only dark-pink one. Here is one I'm sure is the same decor;

      It seems to be more common in blue.

      Beautiful, just beautiful. This vase is indeed an Unknown PG and the same decoration that Greatsnowyowl mentioned is shown on PMC band 4 IV.78 pg57. The decor shown on paper patter 2/483 is not the same as this decor. This vase is a nice addition to any Loetz collection and a great snag too for such a large and rare piece of signed Loetz Phanomen. I would also mention that I have seen three colors in this decor - your "rosa", blue and a light lemon.

      Thanks LoetzDance, it looks as if we are in agreement (unknown PG). The size is quite impressive, and it demands attention in the cabinet (barely fits). I am very happy. :) Thanks again for all the feedback, everyone.
