Hi, rescued this bike when a friend was about to throw it in a dumpster. Have been trying to figure out what I have. One site said it is a Western Flyer X-53, either "53 or "54, and "more replacement parts than authentic"......but they stated they would want to buy it if I wanted to sell..??.. Can someone tell me what I do have, maybe what it's worth??? Is it not worth messing with. I just think it's kinda cool
Thanks
It is a jchiggins it is one of the rarest the jchiggins to find i have researched many differnt bicycles and actually have the sales magazines for that bike
This is really cool! Are you thinking of trying to have it restored at all??? I would love to find out more info on this! Thanks!
Belknap: I appreciate your response, and any other info you could give me would be great. I am a little confused though.....it has an emblem on the bar under the handlebars that says "Western Flyer". Was the bike made by Western Flyer for JC Higgins, or vice versa? As I said before anything else you can tell me would be greatly appreciated----Thanks
western auto x-53 google McCabes DONT THROW IT AWAY. Part it out if nothing else.
This bike is NOT a J.C. Higgins, it is a Western Flyer. J.C. Higgins bikes were a Sears bike while Western Flyers were made by Murray and Huffy and the X53 bikes were sold at Western Auto stores. Belknap needs to do some more research, this is certainly not a J.C.
