This stereoscope was patented by Charles Pappenhagen on April 12, 1904. The patent was assigned to and manufactured by the Keystone View Company of Meadville,PA. The stereoscopic card is Mr. R.W. Sears
the founder and President of Sears, Roebuck and Co. The telephone on Mr. Sears desk is a 1904 Automatic Electric Strowger dial candlestick.

If you put the Sears stereoview on your computer screen,and sit back about 3 feet and cross your eyes, you will see the 3D image in the center
I saw something like this at a auction a few years ago. It looked like it was from the 30's though. I guess this was like 3d or hd viewing for people back then.
I have a steroscope but I think it's a little bit later than yours and not nearly as ornate. Yours is very nice.
These were popular up through the 1930s.
Keystone made numerous boxed sets of these for every taste.
Early viewers are wood tone like this one. The later ones are black.
The 3D effect of some of the cards will even amaze modern computer savy children!
