Over the years of digging I found a lot of broken china. I became quite interested in it. I started going to antique stores and found some real nice platers. Platers are real nice to display on shelves. They add some real nice class to a den or any other room you can find a place for.

I've wondered before, were these truly hand painted or done by some form of silk screening?

Really old ones were painted, blunderbuss2. Later they started using transfers, in the mid 1700's, especially for many familiar patterns. As with other printing, such as offset printing, you can see the "dots" when you look at them with a magnifying glass rather than brush strokes.

Now that you mention it, I think I have seen the tiny dots. I'm going to do a little research. Being honest, I never knew what offset printing is but never to late to learn.

Sizzler, meant to say earlier this piece is very nice. Do you know how old it its? (@blunderbuss, I wouldn't know if I wasn't married to a pressman!)
      :-)
