Please help. Found this old coin among some coins filled in a jar. It was my father-in-laws lived in Boston and loved to collect anything. It is 1 in. and the color is gold. It is in fair condition. Please let me know what you think. I just think how did it circulate and how many people had it in their possession. It is a wonderful piece of History. I never thought that we used foreign currency in USA. It also was cut in 1/2 for a 1/2 dollar and 1/4th for a quarter. I wonder what 1.00 Spanish dollar would be worth in our world today as currency.

This is a very worn Spanish 1 real from the Madrid mint KM-369.1 and is silver just as it looks in the scan. Foreign silver coins like this were legal tender in the USA until 1857.
