Hi everybody. My name is Valeria and I live in Padua, Italy. Please forgive my mistakes in advance :)
I'd need a tip from you:
I recently inherited a collection of coins and stamps from my grandfather; between the other coins I found this coin (or medal?): as you can see, on one side it's represented JFK's face, on the other there's a hand with a torch. It looks a bit like the 1964's half dollar, but it seems not to be a real coin, showing no nominal value on it.
Has anybody ever seen this?
Any info will be useful to identify the mysterious object.
Thank everybody and have a nice day.
Valeria
Looks like you have a nice medal.
Thank you for your reply! Do you think it may have a value? As you can easily guess, here in Italy there aren't many experts of JFK's memorabilia...
I have seen a book on JFK medals many years ago but can't remember a title. May be if you do a book finder search on google you may find something. I do not know of any JFK collectors but if you medal is silver (there may be a fineness mark on the edge) it would be worth at least silver value based on weight and fineness. Silver is currently around $33-34 per ounce. If there is a coin dealer or jeweler near you they may be able to test for silver content with out damaging the medal. Good luck.
Thank you, you've been really kind and your answer is very detailed.
I'll follow your advice.
Greetings from Italy!
