This is my mom, RN US Army WW-2, she was pretty famous, Stationed in Iceland, there was a fire and she saved some soldiers from Hospital, Then she went to England during bombing of London and helped wounded during the bombing, She took Winston Churchill's photo in Iceland with her camera, I have photo and camera she used. Then she went to New York and sold war bonds with Kate Smith,(see my next post) for photos of her and Kate! They became friends, my mom sent her chocolate! and Kate sent her a gold watch with diamonds! I have the watch! (see photo next post for letter mentioning chocolate and watch. My mom Christened the Worlds largest Hosp. Ship! (see article and photo, Kate came to Boston and sang God Bless America, She was Chief Nurse with 40 other nurses. Love this ! I was a Nurse during Nam so I have to say I am partial to the Nurses that served and you must be very proud of her . This was not a easy job and at times when talking Wars and Military hero's the Nurse has been a unsung Hero many times we forget them . So glad you posted this !
Hi I spent time in Army Hospitals in Vietnam, Japan, San Francisco, and Ft. Carson. And worked in Psych. Hosp. after my 2 years in Army, Nurses are special! Thanks for your service! We had an asparagus farm when I was small, mom would work at hosp. and days off pick asparagus , clean house, and even iron my T-shirts and even the sheets, bake and cook, that generation was not lazy like me! haha, again thanks for your service
Thank you! yes I am proud of her! She was a good mom! She worked as head or Directer of Nurses at Hosp. later, than went to UC Berkeley for Teachers Cred. and taught Nursing last part of life, until retirement. She still worked even then teaching at Adult School in Hayward, a Medical Secretary or something program. She taught medical terminology, etc.
