Saw some lamp posting this morning -- particularly jay's slag Egyptian motif lamp -- so thought i would share my little wood nymph girl -- she is not antique as the wiring is way too modern -- but she reminded me of some of auguste moreau work so she had to come home with me from the thirft store for $9 -- shade not included -- that was a $160 OUCH -- ebay sting with one of those devilish knats that run up the bidding and then typically cancel out if they win -- wish the fly swatter could reach threw this screen of mine -- ted and i always turn her on at night if we leave to go get coffee -- when we come back in she offers a welcoming glow to the home
the 4th pic -- where the nymph sits is a 1950s dixie that had been in a fire with smoke and some scortching damage -- dixie is a carolina furniture manufacturing company -- originally this had a mirror on the back and was made for the bedroom -- we gutted it, sanded and stained it for use as a "sideboard" in the family room -- the top and sides are solid mahogany -- the veneer is beautifully done on the drawers. For $7 and a little work we got an nice quality piece of furniture.

thanks jay -- you had asked in an email if i knew who made them -- ebay had a BIN listed of a similar shade in red -- the description said krasnos -- but i wonder if perhaps that was not a typo -- research speaks of an austrian manf with the spelling as krosnos -- still checking it out
thanks jayhow and czechman -- i just have to laugh -- that shade cost $160 and the seller must have a pot load more as he keeps listing and the price keeps going down -- could have bought two for what i paid the the one -- oh well live and learn
hi czechman and phil -- well guys check out ebay -- the seller must have a boat load as he keeps listing them as fast as they sell -- i have one in the pink also -- when she gets moved around the house -- sometimes she get to wear her pink bonnet -- thanks for you love

ok inky -- when i pass this world i will leave a note on the bottom for britter bear (my daughter) to make sure you get her -- that is providing we are both still around -- i celebrated my 65th birthday today -- received a special bottle of wine called "the lady in red" from the prosser washington winery from ted -- as you can tell by my postings i love the color red and ted always call me the lady in red as with many of my past co workers
another birthday gift that came my way today via cw -- was Bazelmania had done a post on two pink frosted ladies that looked to be from walther sohne molds -- which i am totally ditzy about -- he just wanted to get rid of them as his taste had changed -- i had one of them in the uranium glass -- long story short --gave him my email so we had a nice visit and come to find out he also had the pelican -- all for the cost of postage -- so as always with a christmas baby -- santa came early
