Recently purchased a whole apartment full of wonderful mid-century modern vintage furniture, that included an Eames style, rosewood executive lounge chair, this GORGEOUS sofa, with matching chair & two more of the same style chair in a lighter upholstery.

So, I've got a sofa & THREE chairs, on cast aluminum bases with organic shaped "antler" style supports. The cast aluminum bases (apparently influenced by Herman Miller design) on the sofa & chairs have very pointed feet that I've only seen used on Saarinen and Arne Jacobsen designs.

These vintage pieces are clearly high quality construction and have been well cared for. It's hard for me to understand why anyone would put such craftsmanship into this type of cast aluminum furniture and then neglect to include a maker's mark in the metal somewhere....?

I've scoured the internet and dying to know where these pieces came from! Thanks in advance for your time & any suggestions or ideas where I might look.

    peace~

Several collectors, retailers and appraisers have suggested the same thing...Herman Miller Aluminum Group prototypes. I decided to list them on nyc craigslist. They are gorgeous, but I've got to reduce my collection! LOL.

They look like something that would be in an airport lounge or depot in the 60s or so.

I think I would check with one of the large auction houses before listing them on craigslist. I'm sure in nyc you will get a good price. but I would hate to find out later the were really important. Try Wright20 or Christies they both sell 2oth century modern and will give you a free educated opinion.
      Good luck.
