    I found this item in my grandpas garage. Would like to know how much it is worth. i dont see much about "Childs" by underwrites lab. it has a dent in bottem , where I assume was droped. It has the glass, cap and holder all perfect. should i polish this befor selling? Thank you for any help.

      My opinion is that you shouldn't polish it. I have a similar extinguisher and I love it's patina. Others may have a different opinion though. I don't know what it's worth. I paid $35 for mine, which I thought was a good deal. Mine has the glass and holder intact too, which you don't find often.

      beware!!!some state laws wont let you sell these types of fire extinguishers because of the chemicals used in it.

      As long as it's empty you should be fine selling it. Wouldn't hurt to give the inside a quick washing out.

      Good evening. If you check my fire memorabilia site http://www.oldfirestuff.com , you will see how neat these old soda acid extinguihers look when professionally restored. I have a couple of professional restorers listed on my links. I use to do it myself but it is about a 4 hour back breaking project with the right equipment. I would recommend that you straighten out the dents, a good body man can help with that. Please contact me if you have anymore questions. Thanks Pat H.
