    :-(..sob

I promised you know who I would be good for 'ever' if by the time I actually opened it it would be all fixed...but! obviously going on my past record he didn't believe me!!!

The second in so many weeks from UK, same silly soft box cardboard box, barely enough padding on the sides and bottom, nothing on the top, all those years of giving pleasure then some.. @%*%# person!!!

It took me a week before I could put the other one in the bin!

My sympathy to you, inky. I was shocked the other day with the packing of an article from Holland. The box was crumpled. No peanuts, no bubblewrap, just paper. The item was surrounded in cardboard and withstood the knock it had received.

      Why don't they pack properly?

I love that you've been brave enough to show the consequences of the neglect of people who are penny-pinching. The colour of the flower was lovely!

So sorry, I didn't do it.

:( I don't know why overseas shippers tend to send those soft boxes. i've gotten them too. you can't find them in the usa. that I am also noticing is that NO ONE uses peanuts anymore. I once had bags and bags of peanuts now I am down to none. But I've got bags nad bags of newspapers.. It's disheartening. I've been reselling some of my glass so I can buy more and it's getting to the point where it looks like I am actually going to have to BUY peanuts. I know the economy is bad but really.. some of the things I've gotten recently I really don't know how they survived. It's really just luck.

Thank you vetraio50!... It just made me so sad... A beautiful vase gone for ever, I would have thought there was enough information on out there showing how parcels are treated on their journeys, I even set them a photo of my last vase to show the consequences of not packing well, hoping they would look and learn..but!!!
    5. inky inky, 12 years ago
I know blunderbuss2, even you wouldn't do this I'm sure!...:-)
    6. inky inky, 12 years ago
Thank you Greatsnowyowl, it is disheartening and also discouraging when you are on a limited budget...:-(

Sorry to see this inky, I'm probably one of the worst packers in the world, but I don't think I'd ship "Glass" with nothing on top. &^%$%^ people do &^%$% things. Sorry again. :-(
    8. inky inky, 12 years ago
      kerry10456 thank you, it's sad..sad sight!...:-(

Sorry to see the results of total incompetence!! or is it just thoughtlessness, not sure, but if I had been paid for an item, I owe it to the buyer to ensure that it arrives in mint condition. Sorry to see your vase in pieces once again inky!
    13. scottvez scottvez, 12 years ago
So sorry to see the results!

I have had glass arrive in shards as well.

I see the SAME incompetence in packaging large photographs-- no cardboard reinforcement/ tight in an envelope/ large corregated cardboard/ etc... have been the cause of the destruction of a handfull or more antique photos mailed to me each year.

I like reasonable postage but NOT at the expense of the item!

Oh no!!!! Its called bubble wrap people!
    15. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 12 years ago
Hang the greedy bubble-wrap people! Sorry, I got carried away. Well, at least linch the packers. They aren't going to change & we just have to live with it & pay exorbitant fees for insurance. Hang the insurance people! Well, the end of the world is supposed to be in 2 days.

ditto here inky -- same happens here in vancouver, wa -- i know of the deaf one you speak of -- he ignores me too -- have a great week
    21. MacArt MacArt, 12 years ago
sorry to see that, packaging is most the important when you send glass, better to pack well and use cheaper service than pack poorly and use premium service...

      Sad sad sad..
I have sent hundreds if not thousands of things all arround the world for over decades and only had 3 things arrived damaged (fingers crossed after saying that) . 1 because the buyer would not let me take the glass out of a framed print .
      2. just one speck of paint fell off a Nakara dresser jar ( buyer said it was well packed and probably would have come off any way.
      3. I set a large collection of Royal copenhgen full lace to the states . It had been my own set . and I individually pack every piece even drove 40 k and bock to buy extra foam to place arround each plate . sent in two strong Polysteyrene boxes . one madit un scathed the other was openen by US Customs who undid it all and threw it back in the box or intentionally broke several pieces!! heat breaking .
I now stipulate to every one I buy from to
PLEASE BACK WELL it has to withstand an atomic bomb or worse the postal people!

So sad inky . A piece of history lost :-( I have had bad experiences also with crapy packing I get sick when it arrives . My other pet peeve is filthy box and wrapping with dead bugs in it !!!!! How and why do people do that . I always open outside any package and then let seller have it , no excuse for that and the odor like it was in a kitty liter box . I throw it out and request refund through paypal .
Have a Happy New Year in spite of this ok xoxo

      Dear Inky,
How beautiful, even in pieces, my heart aches for you.
I hope that some comfort will come with the next treasure that survives it's journey to you.
      hugs, T
