This is a roll top desk i picked up for 80.00. I do not know how old it is but it has to be newer than the 1920s cause it has plywood incorporated with the big wood pieces. Havent seen too many with the hidden bench seat either. Its a cool addition to our house.

O wouldn't let the plywood throw you, according to the web it has been around since the 1850's..........Are the drawers dovetailed at the front and side? could you get a pic of those joints? I love the way the seat works ! High Quality I'd guess.

Heres some pix of some of the dovetails on the drawers... their pretty big in size. Hope these pixs help. Thanks for the comments.

I'm with you, I suspect It's some time in the 40's, It is lovely, and lacking any name plate I'd say custom built. Kinda goes to what I've been saying, "Buy what you like" lets face it it's not going to go down in value............Never seen one quite like it but I think it's great..By the way, those are machine cut dovetails but they could be done any time from the 20's through the 50's .. I WANT IT !

This is a beauty.I've never seen one with the hidden chair.Very cool.I would place it in the 50s just because of the design. The face looks very 50s to me.And "Buy what you like" is great advise. You have to live with it.

Hi, I just picked one up with the hidden chair at an antique/second hand store. I have never seen one like these and then I saw yours while wandering all over the internet looking for these. Have you gotten any more information on yours?
