My mother bought 2 of these vases in 1970 at an estate sale. She paid about $170 for both of them. She said they were by Doulton. They are slightly less than 12 inches tall, and the diameter at the top of the vase is 4". The colors are dark blue, light blue, gold, a little coppery color, and cream/white. The pattern overall is a floral. I would really like to know more about these vases. Can anyone provide any information?

I found some pieces very close to yours but in the blue. It looks much like the "slater patern" but the colors are all wrong. What I did find was this site. That says your mark is 1882-1902. Now if you scroll down it will show other numbers that will help you indentify your vases. They are very pretty.

I meant to say not in the blue

You can actually narrow it down to 1891 - 1902 since they added "England" in 1891. Vestawind, what do you do with the letter? That looks like an "F" to me and they don't list one. I it is an "E" that dates it to 1903.

It's an artist mark. Here you go.

I hope someone can come along and tell you more. I can't find your exact pattern or that color. This might be a good thing. Some Doulton compands some good prices.

Thank you for your responses. Moving ina clockwise fashion the first mark is the L(what kind of looks like an L), X 3904. Below this is the mark. We looked carefully at the mark: It says "Doulton" and then in the bottom of the circle (inside the circle) it says "Lambeth." outside the circle below Lambeth it says "England". Other readings on this are: "1713 F". So maybe this mark is from around 1902-03.

P.S. Thank you for the compliment on the vases. While not really my style, they are pretty and memorable for me as my mom bought them.

I kept looking at the vase mark and I loved that spiral. Could that be a mark for E Jessett, of Doulton?

I don't know. I'm more a jack of all trades master of some. If I were to guess I would say no. It maybe a mark made when making the vase to keep it steady on something while painting or being fired.

snap, I can help, I have the exact same one and am a collector. These are 19th Century, I can tell by the marks. And will look at mine to see if they were made in the same period and artist. I cant see your base properly but can you tell me does it say burselem or lambethware at all?
