This is an unusual 1870s advertising carte de visite (CDV) for a photographer.

The photographer has placed a product selection on the table along with his camera. Additionally, he has an advertising fan with his information.

Based on the characteristics of the CDV and the inclusion of cabinet cards, I would date this image to the 1870s.

Klauber was originally a daguerreian photographer and was well respected in Louisville, KY.

    Any camera specifics are appreciated!

Scott ... unfortunately not enough of the camera is showing to identify; however, the lens in the foreground has the look of something made by C.C. Harrison. These early Harrison lenses are highly sought after by collectors and typically date from the mid-1850s to 1860s yet they were used throughout the 1870s.

Thanks rob-- the lens information is helpful.

I just got this one in the mail today and am hopeful that I can work the two gunk splotches free of the image area!
