Alphonse Mucha Zodiac print in original frame the actual print is close to 13 1/2" square .This has been our family for all these years, i cannot find any print of this on his websites? Possibly early before the La Plume posters were made? Which have this name plus the top and bottom. Photo 4 is a scan i took it out of the frame correct color Metallic silver and gold ink was used, on the reverse is a card from Water Price Oil Company
Odd Fellows , St Louise. 1900.
I did get this open last year it is ok the print nice.
This possibly is an original the gold is beautiful and the green background is also, very deep colors this is a quick shot with glass still on front
This image was also used on an album cover back in the late 60's early 70's, Gyspy was the band name.
Here it is Kerry?
His name was actually Alphonse (or Alfons) Mucha.
Yep that's the one. I got it in my albums also, that's how I remembered it. :-)
Attributing the print state of any poster, let alone Mucha, without examining it out of the frame is fraught with problems, as generally the information necessary for attribution (i.e., printer's mark, etc.) is hidden behind the frame. I would recommend examining it out of the frame and then removing any cardboard or other acidic type backing that may be touching the poster. Also, if the poster is flush against the glass, this is another unwanted thing and should be corrected.
Just took this to a friend who knows about Lithos, its not a original, but he says its beautiful anyway. some kind of copy very early 1910 the litho with some colors, green gold, silver
Were there any markings in the margins?
No marking only his signature which is not an original, my friend says the dots on the first color are not Litho,
