I am really unsure what kind of box this is it might be a powder box, jewerly box, or maybe something else all together. Can someone help me find out what it was used for orginaly. I would also like to know if anyone can tell the maker there are no markings on it at all but it looks really old.

I have seen and sold a few of these- it looks like it is an alabaster lidded trinket box (which is a type of stone, not glass), made in Italy- they often have transfer pictures on them under some sort of lacquer, as is the case here. The last one I had was the same size and also had a floral transfer on top but it was green (not yellow) and still had the original 'alabaster, made in Italy' sticker on the base- I sold it at the local market for $7
