A recent addition to my collection -- a pristine leather bound Jenny Lind with brass straps and rivets. The beauty of this trunk is the shape that it is in. All the leather is intact, and the leather scrolling is fabulous. What is unique to this trunk are the six brass bands -- usually there are four -- sometimes five but rare to see six full across. The handles are like new. A great example of a Jenny Lind at the zenith of the art and craftsmanship of the period. A huge thanks goes to SenorTrunk who had a similar trunk and mailed me a key -- this trunk is now perfectly complete!
Thanks for the comment Bellin68 and for the L's from both you and mustangtony.
Well a kijji purchase is not much of a story -- however I did do one of my "trunk runs" for this with my son. (a trunk run is when I have to travel over an hour to get a trunk -- I have about three trunks under this category) We picked our favorite cd's and went off to the countryside. Met a fellow trunk lover who was ready to part with this beauty. He replaced the straps and the front lift leather with a design of his own -- excellent work. It was a great trip.
Do you have special feelers that use to locate such rare beauties?
Don't tell me. I bet you have a garden in which antennae grow.
What a great find. It's a fine trunk.
Now that's a beautiful trunk! It's amazing that it has survived in this condition. The leather scrolling is a wonderful additional detail, too. What a great find!

What abeautiful trunk. I redid one about a year ago that had 5 bands, and originally the black leather. Although I like the way mine turned out I wish I could have seen this one first I love the leather on this one. Is the inside as nice as the outside? If you get a chance look at my pictures from a year ago as the trunks are very similar. What a great find congratulations!!!!

Trunk man, did the key I sent work. That lock was just like the one I had on my Jenny Lind, same manufacturer, looks like from between 1850 and 1870
