This floor lamp has been in the family all my life- My parents seem to have had a love of lamps. This one is something they bought shortly after they married in 1935- and I expect it was second hand then- most of what they bought was. The shade is moulded glass with a butterfly pattern around the side. The filigree shade base is a pewter color- I do not know the metal. There are trim areas of brass as well, making it a nice two tone blend. The base has a marble top with the gargole type figures holding it in place. I was so surprised and pleased to find out so much about my reverse painted hanging lamp that I thought it would be nice to find out about this one as well. This lamp is very heavy.
Any information at all is appreciated- including maker and value. I will not be selling the lamp- it is valuable to me regardless. Thanks for all help.
Greetings again Mamamule, the term used to identify this type of lamp is "Torchiere" French for torch. Until recently there has been little if any interest in this type of lamp. Today at auction they can bring between $100 to $200. I don't have any manufacture info, sorry.
