My dad has had this chair since the remodel of the barber shop (late 60's early 70's) at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. Its in great shape, gold plated and never touched since it left the hotel. It would be great if anyone knows where to find some pics of this chair in use. It has seen many famous people, the stories it could tell if it could talk. I was told that even JFK had his hair cut in this chair back at the democratic convention that was held at this beautiful hotel. Just wish I had a nice place to display this piece of history.
call hotel and ask for the registry history for that day you think j.f.k. was there.take there names and type them into search engine.maybe by chance one of those people on the registry took a picture of j.f.k on chair.Go to that towns local historical society and ask for the hotel pictures they almost half to have pictures.
Thank you very much for your comment. I will look into that. Looks like im going to have to take a road trip.
The Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel open it's door in 1923, my grandfather was a barber in that hotel until he retired 1934. somewhere in my pile of photo's I have pictures of him standing by his chair with a towel folded over his arm, almost like saying next person please.
Wow! that is incredible!
Spectacular!!
Just send this beauty to the museum at aaaLakeside Storage & 1000s of people will see it free of charge every week. I lived in West LA as a kid & remember the famous Biltmore as I was growing up. Quite the place for the rich & famous! Very nice chair! Lucky guy to have it!
