Nazi SA Dagger.
Like all nazi items they are heavily reproduced.
The patina on the metal on the handle looks odd. I don't know these well enough to give you an opinion on authenticity.

I'm with scottvez, looks iffy to me also. Most I've ever seen have ebonized handle scales.
Hey guys thanks for responding so quickly. Its totally possible this is a reproduction, let me go through his photos and see if I can't find some evidence. There are two other daggers I will post. They could very well be fakes also.
"ebonized handle scales"? This is the SA(Brown Shirt) dagger & from pics appears orig.. The finish on the ones I know don't appear to have a truly "varnished" look to them but this has obviously been exposed more than any I have dealt with so can't really judge by that. My opinion without handling is that it is real. Appears to have even the correct markings on the hand guard. I have all the info somewhere if you have trouble getting it appraised.
looks like it could have been stored in a damp place for a long time.

Did a little research & here is what I came up with. I noticed the lack of a "RZM" marking but that was not started until 1936. Many makers used a thicker varnish in the early years. Early models had better metal in the grip pieces, scabbard & hanger (often solid nickel). I can't quite make out the small marks on the guard above maker's mark but if you give it to me, I can tell you what area it was from. You have an original I'm certain. What colour was the orig. paint on the scabbard as that can tell a lot as most were brown but some were black.
blunderbuss2, thanks so much for looking into this for me. I recall what you are talking about. When I looked it over earlier I saw these letters. They were:

"He" is Hesson. Is the scabbard laquered or anodized? It appears yours is from 1934 & before 1936. I'm sure you have the real thing.
blunderbuss2 thanks so much for helping, really!! I will get back to you about the scabbard. If you have a second could you glance at the flags I posted? I know you don't do this anymore but you're knowledge is great. After that post I am done with this stuff too!!! I have some bullets, looks like a leather pilot cap with goggles or something, and a thick packet of pictures and letters. That is all. Thanks again everyone for the help tonight!!!!

Have a French friend here who collects this stuff. I'll see him tomorrow & ask. The flags & all your stuff appears genuine to me from the pics..

Looks good, early piece with a three-piece (rare) original hanger, rare maker, and nice blonde grip, Gau marked to "Hesse". Congrats on a great find!

My opinion is keep the SA dagger as it is real early & worth a lot more.
