Here are a few beer cans from Minnesota (other than the ACE,which is from Iowa) that are desirable. Look for the triangular shaped holes that took an opener (or churchkey) to pierce the lid. Or,cans that have the spout or cone on top. These were once sealed with a cork lined CAP.And-those are collectible too!
cool, I just bought six coca cola syrup cone cans for 15 bucks at a antique mall. gotta love those cone tops.
I used to have a bunch of those old cone tops...there was a place in my hometown where everyone had picnics and they had a huge pit there filled with old beer cans.We used to rummage through that pit when we were kids.Wish I knew then what I know now,i could have retired on that pile of cans!
Is it true the UPC started appearing on cans in the late '70s? I bought a few cans today just to start my own collection, not sure of the gae exactly, I know not too old.
Check the lids too.The "stay tabs" started, hmm,in the early 80's I believe.Upc codes after 1978.
One of em was a Hamm's Genuine Draft stay tab, which I know isn't that old but it was Hamm's so I bought it lol. Blue and Silver.
Bought a Schlitz 8 oz can...never seen a can that small lol, and a Grain Belt Premium can.
Do you collect any bottles?
I collect...BEER.I stay away from bottles due to the weight and the fact there are SO many.I do have about 30 I suppose.
I picked up a few pre-prohibition Blitz bottles too.
I think if I wasn't collecting cameras this would be something else I would collect. I love the vintage artwork and colors on all of these. Very nice.
