1. Vase, designed and made by Knut Bergqvist at Orrefors about 1918.
Height: 18 cm.
A slightly greenish crystal nuance.
Bergqvist composed and made an own dinnerwere at Orrefors in a small series. Among others purchased by the firm Marshall Field in Chicago. He also made a vase in the same style, with optic blown foot and pleated stripe. The vase I inherited from my grandfather and father.
2-3. Two pencil drawings by Edward Hald 1918. Portaits of masterblower Knut Bergqvist.
Signed : "Till Bergqvist från Hald/18" (For Bergqvist from Hald/1918).
Unfortunately the portraits are drawn on transparent thin, fragil papper and thererfore has worn over the years.
4. Engraved Selter glass by Edward Hald, Orrefors 1918. Signed Of, Ha, GA ( engraver Gustav Abels) and with numbers for the model and engraving pattern.
Height: 10 cm.
Clear, uncoloured crystal.
Thanks bellin68! Maybe there are more surprises ...
Magnificent - all!!! Too much beauty, refinement, wit, and poignant affection and esteem. Yes, stunning.....
I'm sure there are more surprises! Perhaps there are other examples of the Marshall Field service out there! Hey Amber, that something to look out for now!
Thanks go to you rebessin for sharing this info..
That Hald piece is excellent!
Comets, moons and stars!
Galactic glass!
I have no pieces from the "Bergqvist dinnerware" myself, only this vase in the same style, but my cousins ??got some glass I know. In the book "A love of glass - Agnes Hellner's collection of Orrrefors glass" there are wine glass, madeira glass, sorbet glass and decanter pictured on page 201. Maybe you can find the book on the bookstore or library?
According to what rebessin hints above, I'd say yes.
"Bergqvist composed and made an own dinnerwere at Orrefors in a small series. Among others purchased by the firm Marshall Field in Chicago."
Something to look out for. I'd say a research topic.
