Some of these Ausführung (design) 226 pieces have dull spots on the lower half. A few of mine are like that, but this one is quite bright, both on the spots and in the iridescence of the pink portion. This vase measures 8 1/4 inches tall. I did not find the shape in either of my books, but I would place the year of production at 1918-20. This pink color is called "Camelienrot". Oh, and it has the acid oval Czech-Slovakia mark on the pontil. (I just changed the approximate date of production, because of the oval mark)
Yes Gary, that's the one. I kept clicking on it and looking, and thinking. Finally I just made the right offer. It almost didn't make it here in one piece though. It came via FedEx, and was packed by them. 4 crumpled pieces of brown paper, and one layer of large bubble wrap. It thumped around inside the box. But it survived.
Horror story, beautiful vase!
I thought about buying it also but I have a similar one in the same colors that I posted on CW earlier.
BTY : thought we were going to cut down on buying !?!
I did cut down. This is the first glass I've bought in a month. Besides, I'm replacing pieces in my collection that are less than perfect, or uninteresting shapes, so every new one I get means at least one has to go. I had a pink 226 bowl that used to be a footed vase, but someone must have damaged the foot and cut it off, then polished the base. This vase is replacing that one, which is already gone.
ok David .......I was going to cut down also.......BUT SEVEN pieces this month so far........I need glass rehab.
Lovely..:-)
