I purchased this Kelvinator fridge today here in San Diego. The gentleman that I bought it from stated that the building it was in was an old 1920's ice packing company. So when I brought it home I decided to do some research to see if I can find the year and model. The only numbers on the item were on the back which didn't appear to look original (CSX6R and 1126590). So looking at some vintage Kelvinator ads, this fridge appears to range from the late 1930's to early 1940's. I personally would love to know the exact model and year it was made with any additional info. HELP!!
Some additional info: The "freezer" box inside is small, square, and centered on-top. The bottom grate has horizontal lines running across that protects the compressor. The handle is vertical and broken but still usable.
My idea for this wonderful old vintage refrigerator is to turn it into a kegerator like the last picture. But, if this somehow happens to be a rare item, then I will restore it. Thank you for looking at this post and if any questions arise, please ask. Thanks again.
So I did a through investigation in search for the builders plate. I pulled the front grate and found a really rusty tag. I tried to clean it to see what it said and couldn't get a visual. So I turned the "Sherlock" mode on and grabbed a crayon and paper and rubbed it over the tag. The numbers read 2036538. I'm assuming its the serial number, no model number noted that I could find.
I have the same problem here in Australia with a fridge that looks just like yours but it is a side by side door (2-door) I have searched everywhere all over the internet and cannot find even a picture of anything close to what my fridge is like, my dad is a refrigerator mechanic and tells me the motor, compressor etc has been replaced and updated, there is no tags, or numbers anywhere on my fridge!!! it looks the same as yours, same shape, same door handles, accept the kelvinator badge on mine is round and has two draws (one under each door) with handles.. I cant really offer you any help with this as I'm stuck myself, but if you do find out any info, please post it here :), I will do the same if I find out anything...
Ola. caiu na minha mão uma geladeira igual? queria mais informações. SOCORRO!!!
The pic that states CSX6R, that’s the model #. The R indicates right side opening. Likely early 40’s- could date it better If I had pics of the inside. kittleo, yours sounds like a side by side, called a Reach In refrigerator.
Hi i just found this post and i have the same kelvinator fridge as Kittleo.
i am also in Australia and cannot find any information on the fridge.
DesertWoodguy you mentioned it sounds like a a side by side called a reach in refrigerator. can i email you the pics or post them some how. I am searching for new seals for it as it is working but cannot find any information on it. Any help would be appreciated
Eric Berry, I have the exact same refrigerator as you have! I have also searched high and low online to no avail for any information about it. I would like more information about it if you've found anything. By the looks of the lack of information online, it makes a guy wonder how rare this particular fridge is. ????
If anybody has any information about this specific model of refrigerator that would be great. Thanks.
