Same soldier in both RPPCs with backdrop of the American Flag and the 3rd Infantry Division patch!
Known as the "Rock of the Marne" the 3rd ID was involved in heavy figthing during WW1. It suffered over 3,000 KIA and over 12,000 WIA in its 5 months of combat.
In AUG of 1919 it was sent to Camp Pike, where it remained until 1922.
It was during this time period that these photographs were taken.
