    Skruf Glassworks.
    Spun vase.
    Height: 8" (20 cm).
    Width: 4" (10 cm).
    Design: Bengt Edenfalk 1961.

Brown underlay and "driven" edge. Applied glass strings in "spun" technique. Spun series was designed by Bengt Edenfalk for Skruf 1961. He was their designer 1952 - 1978. Also for Kosta-Boda 1978 - 1989. Designed glass later in Studioglas Strombergshyttan and Wilke Adolfsson studioglass, Orrefors. Edenfalk also invented Thalatta-technique 1960 (pattern with air bubbles like ariel, but without the intermediate step of cooling).

An attractive use of the 'spun' technique that doesn't detract from the form and make it look too 'fussy'. Great colour, too!

Spun is one of my favourites, too! Your vase is especially beautiful, I adore the shape! It was definitely a good idea of Edenfalk to make this series in overlay technique - thus they all seem to float as the light shimmers in the colourless foot... Glass is so much about light!
I've got a bowl in clear glass and another vase from this series. The vase is pictured on my blog:
      http://designqvist.at/2011/12/sand-soda-kalk/ (bottom of the page).
Sometimes I've seen exemplars where the glass threads seemed to be broken in many spots, but they still were attached to the vase. Furthermore there was some kind of white fine dust behind these threads: What can this be, rebessin? Glass dust? I've had 2 different pieces like that in 2 different places in my hands, so it wasn't storage that made the vases simply dusty...
