Found at Vinnies a year or so ago was this sauce bowl. The matte black on white combo interested the eye immediately, but the form and the decoration provided that little 'extra'. I have not been able to find any more pieces from this set so far. But 'the eye' has been alerted!

    The Birdcage and the Canary!
    Ribbons!
    Movement!
    Surreal!
    Mozart!

"Der Vogelfänger bin ich ja" (The birdcatcher am I) sings Papageno.
Act I, Scene I of The Magic Flute ( Die Zauberflöte)

There are a few pieces in the V&A and there the designer of the form is Raymond Fernand Loewy, it seems. The decor is by Johann Haviland.
    Object history note: 'Exquisite' form.
Descriptive line: 'Papageno' sauce boat of porcelain with charcoal glaze, pattern designed by Johann Haviland, 'Exquisite' form designed by Raymond Fernand Loewy ca. 1955, made by Rosenthal, Bavaria, middle 20th century.
    Materials: Porcelain; Glaze
    Techniques: Glazed

(I have a coffee set of Rosenthal China -- Form 2000 "Bunte Blätter" - another Raymond Loewy Design "Colorful Leaves")

I have almost a complete 12 place setting of this pattern. Been in the family for about 65 years. I am missing 1 dinner plate. If anyone has info, let me know.
My set includes the dinner plate, soup bowl, salad plate, bread plate, coffee pot, cup and saucer, 2 serving platers, relish dish, gravy boat (as pictured here) 2 veg bowls (1 with lid) 2 vases. i have about 5 extra saucers.
