Three brass trench art shells that span two World Wars.
Center shell is a WW1 era shell that has been hammered with a typical oak leaf motif. The background of the shell has been worked and aged to look similar to bark.
Left shell is a very unusual acid etched shell from WW2. Typically the WW2 craftsmanship is of a lower quality than WW1 era and acid etching is rarely found.
Right shell is another WW2 era shell that has a commemorative work of the rescue of the crew from the USS Sqaulus. The Squalis sank in 1939; was raised and renamed the Sailfish. She served throughout WW2.

I have been collecting for over 20 years. I have bought from antique shops, flea markets, militaria shows and online-- just about every possible venue.

Wow! These are amazing! When I saw them I thought, is that a bullet??? Sure enough, spent but still. I used to load shells since I was a kid. I have never seen this done before. I'm glad I got to see these Scott!
Thanks passion. They are actually large Artillery shell cases-- similar to a bullet just significantly larger.
