As I am guessing vlkma is going to show the picture of his Nanny Still Rex decanters very soon, I am going to be a bad guy and be first this time :D

Wow, I am really impressed with the collection he’s putting together lately. The old one, with such amazing art glass pieces is truly awesome, and I just love the pieces he’s adding to it lately, pieces I’ve got or I would certainly love to add to my own colection, such as the amazing X series decanters by Tamara Aladin.

If some genie from a lamp asks me three wishes I'd ask to chose all the pieces I could from the collections of both vlkma, glaswareguy and cobalt!!! :)

    - - - -

The Rex decanters were made in 1964-1965 and were in catalogue from 1965 to 1967. The series consists of several different glasses (whisky, grog, On the rocks, cocktail, sherry, dram, snaps), several bowls, two ice-bowls, a champagne cooler (this is the piece I would love to have!!!) and… 4 decanters!!! My guess is that there are two sizes for each shape and I think the tall decanter should be 1836 and the shorter one 1794... I hope someone can confirm this.

I’ve seen them in blue, purple and green… and maybe, I’m not too sure, brown.

Nanny was the queen of glass.. I love all her designs!
    2. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 12 years ago
All of them? Well, there's a couple of them I wouldn't even like to have, LOL But yes, 99'9% of her designs are amazing!!! ;)

Hiya Austro! I like the stopper quite a bit, adds dimension.
    4. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 12 years ago
I love them too! they've always reminded me of... gumdrops! LOL
    5. GlasswareGuy GlasswareGuy, 12 years ago
Yeah I pretty much like them all, but I would only like to own like 3% of her designs.. that's about 3 series I think LOL

great color are they the same size as mine 30 cm high and 21 cm high ( the 4 different sizes are 21 cm ( 40cl) high, about 25 cm(50cl) high ,28 cm high(60cl) and about 30 cm high(70cl) ) there was a 28 cm high one at laatutavara as modelnr 1794
there is a pic of a brown/amber one on designlasi so your right about the brown one
    7. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 12 years ago
      Mmmm... which three series?

@GlasswareGuy: It's not secret my favourite one is NEPTUNA, then SULTAANI, PAJAZZO, BLACK & WHITE... TIIMALASI too. Oh my, too many favourite series!!!

@Vlkma: mine stand 31 and 23,5 cm. high... so between the two of us we have got the four different decanters!!! And my guess was wrong: the tall, thinner one is then 1794. Then the wider one should be 1836 :)

Glad to know my imagination doesn't play tricks to me about the colours!!! LOL

I know too little about finnish postwar glass. Nice to read about it and see how it differs from the Swedish design. Nanny Still seem to belong to the best!

Well, Nils, that's the best thing about CW, we all learn fro each other's tastes and collections. We're learning a lot about Strömbergshyttan thanks to you, and that's priceless given that there's not much info about it.

Nanny Still certainly was one of the greatest Finnish designers! I've been collecting her stuff for about 10 years. Unfortunately she's becoming too sought after and prices for her stuff are pretty high.

@austro. Thank you for mentioning me. But I am just a beginner, and I observe that I am not very consequent in my tastes. I just bought a little Palme & König bowl form the Twenties which has nothing to do with my collection so far. I'll present it here, like my little Ekenäs vase, my litle Cascade vase (I hope it is at least! You'll see) , my Edenfalk candle holders, my Tynell vase. I have a little bit of all of them, but nothing really systematic and logical like your wonderful collection!

I nearly bought one of these Nanny Still decanters last week. But 70 Euros... I hesitated too long.

sorry cobalt most likely i got the "Rex" from Ebay,i paid alot less for my tall one and cause this one had the same color and could not let this one walk.

I will never get a collection as large and focused as you have Austro. I just got lucky on some pieces ( i watch about 10.000 pieces of glass daily )

@vlkma238412 Yes, in a way am afraid that we are concurrents. We have the same preferences, we watch the same auctions on Ebay and Tradera, and I ask myself whether the sense of CW is to increase the prices on Ebay. Sometimes I am thinking about what the internet is doing to collectors. The objects of desire are so much more in reach that it creates addiction-like symptoms.
    14. GlasswareGuy GlasswareGuy, 12 years ago
Some prices have definitely gone up due to CW. Specially the WH prices. The BIN prices on eBay are ridiculous nowadays.
    15. cobaltcobold cobaltcobold, 12 years ago
@GlasswareGuy. What are WH prices? BIN ist Buy it Now, I suppose.
    16. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 12 years ago
what are BIN prices? :) WH prices are the Wiesentalhütte prices I guess, we've been reffering to them like that almost since we started sharing our WH pics here.

@ Cobalt, GG and vlkma, I am sending you an email about this.

    17. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 12 years ago
@ cobalt. Well, I am not that consequent myself... it's true that I am mostly focused on Lütken, Still, Aladin and jugs/decanters but I've also got a lot of other stuff lately...

@ vlkma... I hope you'll never get a collection as big as mine... I really don't know how i will manage to move from my place with over 1000 glass items, 30 chairs, 100 ashtrays and all the ricrd stuff (just to name a few).

At some point, is fun to have you guys as my auction rivals :)
