This footed vase was made by Loetz in 1929, from a design by Otto Prutscher. It measures 4 1/2 inches tall, by 3 1/2 inches wide at the rim. The shape is Series III, Production Number 4850. The decor is called "silber irisiert mit Emailfedern" according the the description in the musterschnitte (Ricke band II), and "Urania-Silberiris with enamel fields" in the Cantz book. The photo and description comes from p. 277 in that book. Prior to this one I have only seen this decor in photos. According to the musterschnitte, there were only 12 of these produced.
Doesn't get much cleaner than that. Nice, rare example!
And it comes to us on our birthday preciousssss! (well, I bought it before, and it got here after, but it's close enough)
Beautiful! Now I need to retract my eyeballs back into their sockets :-)
Look at the reflection on the inside of the rim, it looks as bright as mercury glass.
I saw one similar decor different shape in Europe..blown away. Mucho Congrats!
Thanks for the loves (and like) everyone. And thank you Tony, in the book it looks pale and washed out, but in front of you it really looks nice.
