1970 Mike and Marty Lee buy Kenwood Winery, I heard in the $60,000 range, from Pagani Jug Wines! Now Pagani had picnic tables, a lot of old time families did. Some with paper cups and a jug on the table for tasting! Pretty cool! In 1976 my girlfriend worked in tasting room and on weekends I would help when busy, for 1 free bottle an hour. I got these labels from Artist Series, see how industry is becoming snobbish and trendy! They have rights to Jack london vineyards see photo and there is J. London. His Wolf House and museum is there along with his Pig Palace! lakes with fish! I caught a lot! Old pioneer graves. Mike and Marty sold later and probably for many millions! Kenwood does 550,000 cases a year. Kenwood's goal for combining its finest Cabernet Sauvignon with the work of contemporary artists was to create an elegant, easily identifiable package, while promoting beautiful artwork at the same time. 'Table Setting,' by artist Nell Melcher. Nell Melcher thinks of her paintings more in terms of 'situations' than still lifes - situations that touch a nerve of fond remembrance in the viewer. 'I have a knack for putting a still life together so it captures a moment in time.' They are crowded arrangements of ordinary and personal objects that evoke pleasure and delight when grouped together in a certain way - glasses of wine, cut flowers, a magical parrot feather, a wedge of Brie cheese, a crystal wedding present, and a seashell from Mendocino. The wine coverings on top had real lead covers! I told my girlfriend to put a box and save them! She did and we had many pounds and we took to recycle and I do not remember how much we got, but we were surprised! It pays to collect! It paid for many fine dining experiences! don
