I found this neat Mohawk Gasoline artifact at a garage sale. I bought it because it looked neat and my dad collects native american artifacts. I don't know what this is. It looks like a coaster or something. It weighs about a pound and it is 3 inches wide. Any ideas on what I stumbled across?
I'll buy it for 5 bucks.... Just kidding. This is some sort of promotional item from the Mohawk Gas Co. in canada. Maybe 1930's, or even 1950's. Not an expert on this kinda stuff. Definatly not a native amerian artifact, but a very awesome piece of petrolina antiques.
I remember the Mohawk gas stations in Southern California in the late 1950's. I would look for "gas wars" going on between the major gas stations and Mohawk would be the cheapest. We are talking 13 cents a gal.
I would kill for a 13 cent gallon of gas!!
Looks like a Promo Paperweight. Right size and weight. LOL Dave
A paperweight huh? I never thought about that. It sure would work. Thanks for the responses. I wonder if it sat in one of the administrators offices at one point?
who knows? That's the fun of collecting old antiques. You never who touched, used or owned it, but you can't help but guess.
Please mail me if you want to sell. i would use as a decorative piece on a custombike built project.
Tanks
Send me your email and we can discuss. I didn't consider selling it, but everything has a price.
My mail is info@classic-steel.com I am projected to built a nice custom chopper, bike would have some nice native art engraving and i found that this piece would be a good idee to ad on over the gas cap!
Mohawk Petroleum was owned by my grandfather and his brother. Would you consider selling this? It would make a wonderful gift for my father. Please let me know.
I just picked a 2 gallon Mohawk motor oil can.. It has the picture of a Indian on both side's!! i can't fine anything on ebay ??? any idea' ? Thanks Lou
