This car is 10 inches long, I found it while clearing a friends house, going to put it on my bookcase because I just like to look at it, I haven't a clue what it is? it has no markings, it winds up has four gears as well as reverse and a handbreak. What a shame toys aren't like this anymore the attention to detail is fantastic and someone must have been a very lucky child to be given this.

Nice to see people loving this item, this is my first time on here I found the sight while trying to find out any info on this car, ive just been having a look around on here and people cherish some lovely things. Anything anyone could tell me about this I would love to know, ive just been playing with it on the kitchen floor and it actually reverses as well as going forward, absolutey amazing for such a tiny car and although I haven't a clue of its age it looks pretty old which is even more amazing, just winding it up and watching it glide across the floor brings the biggest smile to your face

Thank you very much that's great, we thought it may be German, it still works a treat after all these years, I think perhaps someone may have painted the wheel arches at some point.

Delighted to have found this. I have one too!. The only difference is that the wheel arches are the same red as the rest of the car. But number plate, bench seat / gearbox and dashboard are identical. I have had mine from new in the early 1950's, a present bought for me by my dad. Even though it has right hand drive, it may indeed be from Germany, as my dad travelled there very regularly on business. Like you, mine is on display. It gets a regular dust and polish. But cannot find the key, although I remember how well it drove both forward and reverse. A small section of the rear bumper is broken off. I can't remember it every having a box. Will be happy to publish a photo / send one to you.

This is probably no help, but I also have one of these that I recently acquired at an estate auction. I have been looking for another because I was concerned that the bottom on mine may not be correct or have been redone. Much to my surprise, I see yours has the same bumper, so I am assuming the bottom is the same. The body on mine is pale green. The bottom and bumpers are shiny silver colored metal that is riveted to the body with hollow rivets. N maker name anywhere , but windup works and moves car very well in all gears. Wish I could confirm who the maker was. Hopefully, someone eventually will know.
