Gorgeous Crystal Candle Holder by Oleg Cassini

This is the most amazing piece of crystal! I love clean lines and this design is so beautifully clean and clear. It catches the light and throws beams in several directions off the corners. But the best thing of all is how optically clear the crystal is. Images behind the candle stick are as clear as if they were not being viewed through 1 inch of glass. As someone who has been doing microscopy all my life and appreciates optical clarity - this piece of crystal is simply incredible. It is 10 inches tall. I am not sure how old it is but I was able to find them still new on Amazon. The wooden mushroom behind the candlestick is carved from a piece of 3000 year old Huon Pine from Northern Tazmania......and we all know the little Portuguese rooster also pictured behind the glass. There is no distortion at all! I found this in a junk shop for $4 and it is going to grace my table - in fact I think I am going to try to get my hands on another one so I can have a pair. The thicker the glass the more defraction of the light and therefore of the image - to find a 1 inch thick piece of glass that does not have any distortion is a tribute to whomever manufactured this for Oleg Cassini - does anyone know who did this amazing work? I am on the hint for the glassmaker extraordinaire - because I bet there are more gems to be discovered there. I am going to list this as Italian art glass until I find out where it was made....
