This image dates from about 1910 and shows a gun crew with a M1904 Maxim machine gun.
I am not sure if the photograph depicts a demonstration or a shooting competition. There are many soldiers and some civilians (including women) observing the events.
The US Army procured 287 of these Maxim machine guns. The first 90 were produced by Vickers, Sons & Maxim, while the balance were produced by Colt.
The gun never saw combat service.
