I am not sure of this piece. I know it is very old. I am wondering if it might have any value to it? :) It has horse and hog hair in the materials and it has individual wrapped metal coil springs. It has the trademark, "Deutsch Bros." out of Chicago.

    Any info. would help!!!

    Thanks, Laura J.

Considering the tag you are holding, it likely dates no older than the mid 1950s.
If you can find out its history (who had it made, where it was used, etc) it coudl add value to it. From what I can gather, this firm seemed to do a fair bit of custom work.
Just as a piece of quality vintage furniture it is worth $350 IMHO, but it could have significantly more value depending on its history/provenance.

Here is one with excellent provenance, and thus quite valuable... one ordered and owned by Jackie Kennedy:

They were located in Chicago, and apparently closed sometime from 1920-1927 due to bankruptcy from a fire in their warehouse. It is later noted that the Deutsch Brothers were commissioned in 1961 by Jacquelyn Kennedy to design furniture in the Louis XV style for the East Room of the White House.

I seen a really elaborate Louis XV go for 1800.00. Dave

On that Jackie piece, the destroyed the mold and fabric to prevent anyone from making another. It is very interesting Fedora! Dave

i have a louie the xv couch , 2 chairs and a coffee table made by duetsch brothers that i bought from an old german lady for $500 dollars i 've had them for 20 years myself. they have a quilted fabric green, pink and gold. it is filled with hog hair and has male heads carved on all of the pieces probably louie xv. it has the 2 cent stamp on the furnature tag out of detroit. i dont know much about the stamp only that is a health dept stamp. i think this is original custom made furnature but i know nothing else about it. anyone who can give me history input or its worth would be welcomed. it also has union stickers under all the pieces and a handwritten signatue and numbers under the marble coffee table top.

when i was younger and furnishing my first house, i went to antique mall and bought a camelback sofa...was sooooo proud of it..what great shape it was in....then while moving it in i saw the tag that said rothman 1992.....i still laugh at that...but the one you have is really nice and you got a great deal!

      Hello
I have the same couch fabric as jackie o had made for white house and was suposed to be destroyed. My couch is much bigger than Jackie's. I also have 2 matching chairs. Carved wood everywhere on my pieces, I have never seen anything like them before. Maybe mine were made before she had them agree to destroy fabric and design.

Tammy could your table be something that looks like marble? Reason I ask is my table top is also what I thought to be marble. Im not so sure now even though heavy, I think it would be much heavy if marble, and not under glass.

This is even stranger on the website where you can see Jackies furniture, they list everything below, however they didn't list the coffee table with cheribs on the legs, which was made by Deutsch Brothers as well. I have gorgeous one that goes with my furniture set, instead of cheribs mine has swans carved legs. Still none the less done by the same maker. I would love to see anyones pictures of their pieces I will return photos of mine. My email is brattso@hotmail.com
      thank you

I REALLY hate to 'rain on anyones parade' BUT, if you will note in picture #2, there is a Zip code after Chicago..................those were not used until 1963......i rest my case.
It is a pretty thing, I hope you enjoy it.

I know this is a really old post, but for anyone looking now, I found this. It's the Obit for one of the Deutsch Brothers. So, If my math is correct, the company was in operation from 1937 until about 1977.

      Eugene Deutsch

      July 28, 1987
Services for Eugene Deutsch, 87, founder and former president of Deutsch Brothers Inc., manufacturers of furniture upholstery, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel at 111 Skokie Blvd., Wilmette. Mr. Deutsch, a Skokie resident, died Sunday in Evanston Hospital. Until his retirement about 10 years ago, he operated the company, located at North and Washtenaw Avenues, for 40 years. The company is now defunct. In 1965, Mr. Deutsch was the Chicago Furniture Association's Man of the Year.
