My grandparents in 1946. They met in 1945 right after my grandfather came home from the war. After 2 weeks of dating they got married. My grandfather carried this photo in his wallet covered in plastic until he passed in 2006. My grandmother then carried it in her purse. I went home for a 2 week visit in October of last year and she pulled it out and told me to take it home and make sure I always held onto it. She passed away 2 months later on December 20th. As much as I'd love to have them back I know they are whole again now that they are back together.
thank you vetraio50 and AR8Jason
Thanks for sharing your photograph and story.
Your grandfather was a combat medic during WW2-- the silver badge above his ribbons is the Combat Medical Badge (CMB).
Award criteria is/ was similar to the CIB-- medical personnel assigned to support units engaged in active ground combat (General req't-- if you look up CMB, you can find the FULL requirements).

Wow! What a treasure!! Make sure that story stays with it for future gens....
Thank you scottvez for that information. He went on to be a Wardmaster at Walter Reed for several years until he retired. I always loved sitting and listening to his stories, they never got old. I agree toolate2, it was a treasure just having them in my life for all the years I was given with them. Thank you all for the loves
Great story and it is refreshing to see you paying them a tribute. A person remembered in this way is never forgotten. You are keeping them alive, remembered and respected. Thanks for sharing.

That is a beautiful story! Sounds similiar to my grandparents. They were married 50+years. My grandmother passed away in 1976, my grandfather passed away 2 weeks later..... he was never the same. Thrifty
Beautiful image, great story & a lasting tribute to your grandparents.
My parents met during WW2 & married shortly after and my father carried a photo of them in his wallet all his life. My mother carries it with her now.
