This small desk lamp is made from a 1941 dated shell ( with another shell (40mm) on top to simulate a candle. The small shell branch handle completes the lamp.
The base of the lamp has been engraved with "New Guinea, 1944". This style of engraving is typical of the Pacific theater. I have seen the same style on Australian Floren coin jewelry, letter openers, cuff bracelets, and shells. Most likely this is a product of a USN shipboard or CB shop.
