I found this Brooch some time back. I showed it to a lady who collects Costume Jewerly and she thought it was a De Rosa from the 30's. Very heavy pice, I don't know if its Rhodium over silver? It has 100 on the top?? Wonderful piece but don't know for sure? Any Value? Thanks, Dave

Is there any marks? What makes you think it is Rhodium over silver? Is it silver colored as it looks in the photos. (Gold often appears silver in photographs.)

The fact that it is heavy makes me wonder if it isn't platinum?

The "stones" could help identify if it is "costume."

It is silver in color. No marks, stones??? It just seems really nice for costume. I just assumed it was Rhodium. Thanks, Dave

I wasthinking the same, but for what? Would have been something that started in 1800's.. Dave

      Very heavy ...
      1. Pot metal costume ...
      2. White Gold, should have a karat mark ...
      3. Platinum should be marked "Plat" or some variance ...

If the stones are genuine ... one of the last two ...
... if not, then costume and pot metal, chromed.

The attaching pin is from the 1900s so law would have required a Kt marking on Gold or the Plat. markings.
      Is this a stylized "W" ...

Not chrome, Rhodium plated for sure. Thanks on the "w" didn't think of that. Dave

how heavy is heavy in grams -- what are the dimensions -- and someone took some effort to do a nice channel set on those "stones" -- perhaps blue topaz -- the whites look "dead" to be diamonds -- perhaps white topaz -- very nice piece -- i would have a jeweler take a shot at it -- usually information is free and you get what you pay for but sometimes you get lucky -- don't use the term appraisal just ask for an opinion -- i usually take my pieces to several jewelers and then go back and start the research
