And now for something completely different.
From 1899, Series I Production Number 7772 Pfauenauge decor vase. This one is done in a paperweight style, cased in clear glass. The thin threads of the feathers are silver and look like they are made with the powder they use for Titania. The eyes of the feathers are amber, with a dark, black-looking center. Polished pontil, small size of 4 1/2 inches tall.
I have never seen one of these for sale, and the few I have seen are either in the books or in a couple of collections. The ones I have seen usually have a matte finish rather than the high gloss of this one. The less-reflective finish is more photogenic than this one.
I just added another photo take with a black backdrop so the threads are not washed out by the light. You can see them much better now.
Thanks guys.
OK David : spill the beans.......where is this secret source of Loetz ? Maybe the night watchman at Passau ?
This one is truly amazing!!!
I thank you, sir. And no Frank, but it did come from a private collection that shall remain nameless.
