Wanted to thank everyone for your kind words and encouragement for my latest find. This little guy/gal has beat all the odds and is thriving now. My grandpa used to say that boy sure has gumption hence this little ones name. He/she is 12 days old now and thinks I am Mom.
Raising a newborn kitten is hard work and long sleepless nights but If you ever get the chance to save one it is well worth it. Just thought I'd share.
Thanks Mustang
Thanks czechman
Excuse my thoughts, is that the same cutie in both pictures?
Thanks Bellin, thanks Phil
Yes Russ second picture was taken a week earlier than first.
Thanks Brat!
Haven't been on CW much lately, but someone emailed a link to this entry, and I had to log on and commend you for your great kindness and generosity. God bless you!!! Gumption has found a wonderful Mum. : )
Thank you Mikko. It has been a long fight but he/she is doing pretty good now. When I found him he was convulsing so I didn't think I had found him in time. Not sure how we did it but I can't keep up with him/her now:)
Oh!!!..so well done, what a little cutie!..isn't it so very satisfying..... they become very special to you!....:-)
Thanks inky
Thanks for the love Walksoftly.
Thanks Moonstone, sorry I missed your love.
2 weeks old today and what a handful. Thanks birdie.
You are very welcome Birdie
Gumption, what a handsome little fella
and I love the kitty in your picture too!
bless them both, and you!
Thanks Budek, right now I'm up for his 2:00 feeding:)
love love love gumption -- thanks for posting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's a BOY!!!! Just back from 1st checkup.
His name is gumption because he is such a little fighter. My grandpa used to say that little fellow sure has gumption when we would get a new baby in the family. Not sure why I remembered that but it seemed to fit this little guy.
thought he was a boy when i saw the third pic -- have had so many cats along with other critters in my life -- abby my cat is 24 she will be my last as i can not take the loss of something so close to one soul -- i will continue to do animal rescues rather it be a horse, reptile, elk, bear, owl, whales -- or whatever -- one needs to give the animals their space and talk very softly as you try to get to know the animal -- i have been blessed to whisper with the animals -- although those around me get totally scared when i ask them to leave and let me have some time -- usual comments are -- it may have rabies -- it may have other viral or bacterial diseases -- just tell them -- go away i am a chemist, med tech, teacher, etc etc -- hold many degrees -- from business to chemistry i know i will be protected if i do no harm
hope you will continue to do updates on the pics -- big hug to the little guy and big hugs to you also for being that special spirit that found him
autumn
Thank you sweet Epson.
Thanks Birdie
Epson, added one just for you,
oh he is so cute and getting cuter by the day -- spoke with hunter or mark stanford the other day -- mark said -- it is probably not appropriate to have this posting -- but he said i am not going to pull it and just let it run its course -- wise man -- he knew we would be after his behind if he did so -- hugs to gumption and you to sweet soul
I do not want to break any rules. I just had so many people asking about him that I thought I would show him.
Can't see how this is inappropriate.. it's in cats after all. Good for you for rescuing the little fella! their mom must have gotten hit or something? so sad. But wonderful that at least one survived. you'll have a life long connection with the lil dude. I just lost a cat that was born in my closet. we had him for 16 years. There is definitely a bond formed. They do think you are mom. I've done rescue with baby kittens before.. it really is a lot of work.. so kudos to you again.. People like you renew my faith in humanity. We're such a terrible lot so much of the time. It's nice to see people sparkling in the darkness.
Oh GSO you have brought years to my old eyes.
Thanks Valentino
Thanks Geno
I love seeing the new photos of Gumption, what a precious little life.
Wish I could hold and feed him too!:)
attracting so much love on CW, that's a beautiful thing.
Thanks for sharing your little gift.
Thank you Budek. He is very precious but he does pee on me a lot:)
Thanks Rivertrout
we are all checking up on him and his progress -- just keep the pics coming as he and you inspire us all on cw -- the very biggest biggest hugs to the both of you
Thanks Epson. Tried solid food today that would have made a great photo. He is doing very well thank you. Will post some updates soon. Thanks for your love!
your not breaking any rules -- we all love him so and just wanted to keep up with him and you also -- what was the solid food you feed him -- we use to do baby pamlum -- which i this was probably milked down oatmeal -- but you vet can best advise you -- will wait for the new post -- as i check in quite frequently just to see how gumption is doing -- again big hugs and squeezes to the both of you
XOXOXO
Sheba turkey pâté cat food mixed with formula. Yuck, he still prefers his bottle but it just doesn't keep him filled up very long now. He is very impatient trying to drink out of saucer also. Fact is he's spoiled. He has a I'm hungry meow now and I come running so why do anything himself:) Hubby says I need to let him grow up. Guess he's right.
A few new pictures. As you can see he is getting much bigger and trying to eat my little pottery fox. Is teething and biting everything in sight.
Thanks Freiheit
oh there he is -- look at those beautiful eyes - i so love pic 3 -- thanks for keeping us posted -- goodness if i could jump threw the internet -- such a hug he would get -- but sure he feels all the warmth via all the members that so love and cherish him and you
The love he gets doesn't compare to the love he gives:)
You are both very blessed!!! I am next.....would love to hand raise a little baby :))
Thanks Moonstone. It is very rewarding but I have to admit there's a lot of sleepless nights just checking to make sure they are breathing. They are so helpless I was really scared sometimes that I wasn't doing something right. I have been one of the lucky ones put in this situation, I have a little fighter.
All my animals that I ever owned were rescues...from 4 cats and 7 horses....never easy and it's usually an uphill battle in the beginning. Then you have a best friend for life! They will always be with you even when there time has come :)))))) There spirit never dies :) That's a blessing!
There are so many people on this site that are animal lovers. It gives me such a warm feeling with each new comment. Maybe there is hope for humanity after all:)
My theory is that people who have a passion to collect old or Antique pieces from Jewelry to furniture ect. Are the ones with the biggest heart and love and understanding for things that were once loved and over time become imperfect. Then the typical human says...lets get rid of it because its not perfect!
That's when we at CW step in and find that treasure that most cannot see whether in fine treasures or kind animals :0 We are truly blessed to see and have that passion!!!!
Very well said Moonstone!

He is happy, he has a new bed so only has to go in his box at mamas bedtime and when I have to leave alone for more than a minute. He crawls in and out whenever he wants but usually tries climbing up my leg to be held and his belly rubbed. He will lay on his back with all four of his little legs straight up in the air and purrs for as long as he can get rubbed.
hi nldionne -- just got a solved mystery on cw -- here are the thread to read -- i am so happy this one has been solved for me -- thanks to bernadette

abby always loved to live in my arm pit -- she was just wanted warmth -- like i could get her to that today -- oh no that would not happen and that is what mothers miss -- be they human children or animal children
It is hard watching this one grow up. It's almost a miracle that he made it. He is getting so big. He likes to climb up my chest and he puts his little hands on my chin and stares up at me. It's such a loving feeling I don't even mind his little scratches:)
Oh my goodness! Missed him them first time. A-dor-a-ble!!!
Thanks, he's a handful!
hi to you also nldionne -- how's little gumption this morning -- keeping checking in to see new pics -- hugs to the both of you
I'll post some new ones . Oh he is hell on wheels now. I was worried about you, hadn't heard from you. Hope all has been well in your world.
Hi Epson. As you can see he is really growing. I am having a hard time getting him to try solids so thought I'd put him with Maggie for a feeding to show him how a cat eats. Problem is he doesn't know he's a cat. He sleeps with his bunny all of the time. If he's in bed he is cuddled up to it. He's really hard to keep up with now and likes to bite. Vet told me its normal for handfeds to do this since they don't have siblings to roughhouse with. Hope he outgrows it. He has a Gerry Garcia Bernie baby that I keep close to distract him. Thanks for keeping an eye on him. My husband says he's a celebrity since do many people follow him.
nl,
I love your kitty, ies too!
The beautiful Gold one, and beautiful little Gumption!
hugs and love to you all,
Tony.
Thanks Budek. He will be 7 weeks old Saturday. I am momma.
