Another Elgin Pocket watch from Estate Sale...Can't tell if this is silver, or white gold? Trying to open it but it won't budge.
It seems to have the little lip which pops it open, but I don't want to force it and break anything.
any tips? I know it's from the same estate as the first Elgin I posted.

Your photos are too blurry for me to see what type of case you have. Here is a link describing types of watch cases and how to open them.

Hi Dave & thanks for the links. I was able to open this one and the serial # is 201400628...1918- 17 jewels and the serial # in the case is 56143 and says j.boss 25 years watch case. I'm still trying to figure out if the metal is white gold or steel ...there is no Hallmark that I see. Thanks for your help.

The 25 years depicts that it is gold filled or plated, the higher the year, the thicker the gold,as not to show wear under normal use for 25 years. White gold would be the plate.
