This is an antique chair that I bought 20 years ago from a lady who used to work with the Discovery Channel and traveled the world. I was told this chair is antique ~ 100+ years old - I don't remember much details but the carving was inspiring enough for me to buy this item. Not sure if this is from England or not.
- the back rest is beautifully carved in solid black wood highlighted by faded gold paint to the troughs
- the upholstery is burgundy velvet held in place by rivets
- there are 2 wheels on the front of the chair but one side is broken as someone real heavy sat on it
- the legs are carved as well reminded me of the stairwell spikes
If any one has seen this type before, please let me know. I love the carving on this chair very smooth to the touch like it has been admired by many hands before. Thank you in advance for any information that you can give about this.
Thank you so much for your input. I appreciate your time and information. The carving is just beautiful and feels so nice to the touch.
I was looking through some images today - there was a pair of Roccoco chairs with carving that seemed close to this one in wood carving but not as curvy in details.
