Found this piece in my local Antique Store (a converted General Store / shed which shares the location name with a sign, a polo ground and the local CFA =Country Fire Authority) a few weeks back ... sitting on the shelf with the price reduced due to damage ...
That it has survived 120 years warrants the Mircaulous label ... the fact that someone had the sense to sell it rather than throw it makes it doubly so ... the fact that I found it there ....
Some of the credit for my recognising it goes to Leah and the smaller piece on the right ... when I purchased that the week before I spent some hours looking through the Musterschnitte refreshing my memory on the floral designs of the 1890's ... and so ..
Loetz Swei Pfingstrose mit Rosenstemmen ... in Aurora coloured glass ... with matching Scallop shell base ...
Translation: Two Paeonies with Rose Stems ... Aurora = Pink to Blue Opalescent glass ..
The base is Characteristic of a number of similar designs from around 1890-1891 ... a yellow version is illustrated in Cantz on page 56 as belonging in Passau .. although I missed it in the PGM ... anyone know where it is ?
The smaller piece was listed as John Walsh Walsh (have another attributed to S&W) ... and although the scale and colour are different the concept is very much the same ... makes you wonder a little ...
The damage = One missing stem from one of the flowers and a crack through one of the main rose stems ... took me the best part of 2 weeks to notice it ....
Congratulations Steve on this Antipodean Aurora Find!
I don't seem to have it either. it might be on loan somewhere or they might have busted it. I looked in the atlas glass room and the harrach room.. as well..
Fantastic btw! really gorgeous
Thanks Vet50 & Alisa
... there are some yellow pieces in the bottom of the R cabinet just before you leave Harrach for Lobmeyer ... but my pics just caught the top of them ...??? ... wrong location ? ... think Cantz is putting them down to Bakalowits ...
Check your email.
Very beautiful art glass. Thanks for sharing the photo, and you too are so fortunate to go to the Passau....what a great trip that must have been.
BEAUTIFUL!! Some of the most amazing glass that I have ever seen. The survival rate for these delicate pieces must be extremely low.

Thanks NJL
PGM is sensory overload ... is worth travelling to the other side of the earth to experience it ...
Thanks Scott
We may just be missing them ... Interestingly found another one (single flower) on LA last week ... don't think I had seen (or recognised) one prior ....
While I wouldn't have been able to ID them, it is the type of glass that would have definitely CAUGHT MY ATTENTION! And I would certainly have looked to buy (price depending of course).
I don't recall seeing glass with that many delicate petals in my years of collecting and searching antique malls, auction houses and online shops.

Thanks Charcoal
Interesting link indeed ... Row 1 is possibly Loetz / rescued pieces ...
Row 2 Pic 1 is the same as this piece, R2P2 is the LA piece (shortened stem), R2P3 and R2P4 I can't put a finger on ... The "SA..." mark is likely to be "Spaun" or from the distributor ...
Row3P1 is a repeat, R3P2 is Cantz, R3P3 is DBG (Passau), R3P4 unknown
Feel free to pass this back to the Club ...
Cheers
Hi Leah
Sorry ... have corrected the reference above ... bought another very similar S&W-attributed piece (6" across) after your posting set me off ...
I certainly Love them - as evidenced by the 4 pieces last month ...
Will you show the SA mark?
Hi Alisa ...
Did not see it on this piece ... will look again though ...
Was a reference from the link Charcoal provided
Cheers
LiveA piece is not here yet ... But will certainly check it ...
wish they had a picture of it. I've seen it before and I think I've seen a name attached. I am thinking it's a Schrieber and neffen or Reich or Krasno or one of that family.
This is exciting http://www.moravska-galerie.cz/moravska-galerie/vzdelavani/projekty-a-konference/aktualni/schreiber.aspx?lang=en
So very beautiful!...:-)
LA piece arrived today ... is identical to Pic 2 on Row 2 of Charcoal's link ... have searched the base for 20-30 minutes ... with a magnifying glass and a loupe ... no mark that I can find
