This is another tiny treasure. I have not cleaned it yet but it is clearly hallmarked 1912 with Charles Horner's CH mark too. I have seen a number of similar ones on ebay, but not this one. Unfortunately, it is missing an amethyst stone. The stone is wonderful - it is faceted on the top and has curved sides. I have looked around to see if I could find this shape of stone but so far no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might find this amethyst replacement? I love this little treasure - and tiny it is at about 1 1/4 inch wide.

I have an idea...don't look for a replacement but you have put a long pearl or another neat long gemstone like Topaz or Citrine...be different :)) We do that all the time at the store! The owner asks me what kind of gemstone should go into a mounting...and I tell her..and we both agree and put one in! Its a lot of fun playing around with mounting missing the stone :)

Great idea Lee! I have a feeling that I would never find that amethyst - so now the hunt is on for a long stone of some sort!

I would wait and see if I could purchase a damaged Horner pin inexpensively to harvest the stone. That maker is very collectible and putting in a different stone than what was intended by the maker, would hurt the value. Or you may want to try and sell it as is, there's probably someone out where looking for a damaged pin to harvest the other stone:)

Sorry if I gave you bad advise...I would never want to have you sell for less. Lee

Lee - I was not trying to sell it - I love it myself and wanted to wear it. So the option of adding an alternative stone makes it wearable.
