This large milk glass platter by an unknown maker is one of my favorites. I've read that the maker might possibly be Atterbury and that it was probably made in the 1890s. I love the dog making its way through the reedy pond to retrieve the hunter's downed duck with the lily pads around the border. Happily, this beautifully designed and executed piece of early Amercian glass is not hard to find.

I have one of these that has been sitting out or sight on top of a closet for around 20 years. Maybe I should get it down and find some way to hang it on a wall.

A wonderful milk glass platter with a sharply detailed embossed pattern depicting a retriever swimming through a lily pond to retrieve a duck downed by a hunter. I have searched through several glass books to try to identify this pattern and the manufacturer, as someone suggested it might be Sandwich Glass, but didn't find anything. I also searched through several years of auction results and the only one I could find was the following result from Tom Harris Auctions, Marshalltown, IA., Lot 82 of his March 2007 Early American Pattern Glass Auction.

Thanks, keramikos and TallCakes! These platters have very thin, fragile edges, so I would not attempt using wire hangers.
